The TH-216 is a high-quality Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) designed to provide reliable earth-leakage protection against electric shock and fire hazards caused by insulation faults. Engineered for residential and light commercial distribution boards, this compact device offers fast tripping response and electromechanical operation without requiring auxiliary power. The TH-216 ensures enhanced personal safety through advanced protection against indirect contact. Built to IEC 60898-1 standards and certified by TÜV, CE, and CB, the TH-216 ensures reliable safety and compliance for modern electrical distribution systems.
The TH-216 Residual Current Circuit Breaker represents a critical safety component in modern electrical installations. This 1P+N RCCB continuously monitors the electrical circuit for earth leakage currents, instantly disconnecting power when dangerous leakage is detected at 30mA sensitivity level.
Designed with an electromechanical tripping mechanism, the TH-216 operates independently of supply voltage, ensuring protection even during power fluctuations. Its Type AC configuration makes it suitable for detecting alternating sinusoidal residual currents, ideal for standard residential and commercial applications.
The device features a compact 2-module design that fits seamlessly into standard distribution boards, while its robust construction ensures reliable performance across a wide temperature range. With a rated short-circuit capacity of 10kA and compliance with international IEC standards, the TH-216 provides dependable protection for socket outlets, lighting circuits, and general-purpose applications.
Important: The RCCB provides earth leakage protection only. Overcurrent and short-circuit protection must be provided by an MCB installed upstream in the circuit.
The TH-216 RCCB operates on the principle of differential current detection. It continuously compares the current flowing through the live conductor with the current returning through the neutral conductor. Under normal conditions, these currents are equal. When a ground fault occurs (such as current leaking through damaged insulation or a person touching a live part), an imbalance is created.
When the residual current exceeds the rated sensitivity of 30mA, the device's internal toroidal transformer detects this imbalance and triggers the electromechanical tripping mechanism, disconnecting the circuit within milliseconds. This rapid response time is critical for preventing fatal electric shocks and reducing fire risks.
Type AC Classification: The TH-216 is classified as Type AC, designed to detect alternating sinusoidal residual currents. This makes it suitable for resistive and inductive loads commonly found in residential and light commercial environments.
Tripping Performance:
Endurance Ratings: The device is rated for minimum 4,000 electrical operations and 10,000 mechanical operations, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding applications.
Installation: Standard DIN rail mounting (35mm) allows quick installation and replacement. The device occupies 2 modules (35mm width) in the distribution board.
Maintenance: The integrated test button should be pressed monthly to verify proper mechanical and electrical operation of the tripping mechanism.
