The TBC TCT-240 modular contactor is a professional-grade switching device designed to provide remote and automatic control of electrical circuits in a wide range of applications. This 2-pole contactor is particularly well-suited for controlling lighting systems, heating loads, water heaters, and HVAC equipment where reliable switching performance is essential.

Featuring a rated operational current of 40A at 250V AC, the TCT-240 can handle substantial loads while maintaining compact dimensions of just 36mm width (2 modules). The device is designed for standard 35mm DIN rail mounting, making it easy to integrate into distribution boards and control panels.

The contactor operates with a 230V AC control coil (50/60 Hz), allowing for straightforward integration with standard control circuits, timers, and building automation systems. Its AC-7a utilization category makes it ideal for switching resistive and slightly inductive loads such as lighting and heating elements.

Constructed with flame-retardant thermoplastic housing and offering IP20 protection, the TCT-240 is designed for safe operation within electrical enclosures. The device complies with international standard IEC/EN 61095 and carries CE marking, ensuring quality and safety compliance.

Important: This contactor provides switching control only and must be used in conjunction with appropriate circuit protection devices such as miniature circuit breakers (MCB) or earth leakage circuit breakers (ELCB) to ensure complete circuit protection.

Operating Principle:
The TBC TCT-240 is an electromagnetically operated contactor. When voltage is applied to the control coil terminals (A1-A2), the electromagnetic coil energizes and closes the main contacts (1-2 / 3-4), allowing current to flow through the controlled circuit. When the coil is de-energized, a spring mechanism returns the contacts to their normally open position, interrupting the circuit.

Control Circuit:
The control coil operates at 230V AC (50/60 Hz) and is connected to terminals A1 and A2. The main switching contacts are arranged in 2 poles, with terminals 1-2 forming the first pole and terminals 3-4 forming the second pole. Each pole can switch up to 40A at 250V AC.

Installation Requirements:
The contactor must be mounted on a standard 35mm DIN rail in a vertical position within an electrical enclosure providing at least IP20 protection. Adequate ventilation should be provided, and the ambient temperature should be maintained within the specified operating range. All connections must be made using appropriately sized conductors and tightened to the recommended torque specifications.

Wiring Considerations:
Control wiring should be kept separate from power wiring where possible to minimize electromagnetic interference. When integrating with timers, photocells, or building management systems, ensure that the control device output is compatible with the 230V AC coil voltage requirement.

Safety Notes:
Always disconnect power before installation or maintenance. This device does not provide overcurrent or earth leakage protection and must be used with appropriate protective devices. Ensure proper sizing of upstream protection devices according to the load characteristics and installation requirements.
