The TBC 220E operates on the Edison screw principle, in which the E27 lamp base engages with an internal metal threaded shell contact and a central base contact within the holder body. This two-contact arrangement — shell and centre pin — completes the electrical circuit upon full lamp engagement, providing a low-resistance connection suited to the continuous duty demands of general lighting service.

The holder is installed via a two-screw surface-mounting method, with conductor terminations made at the internal terminal block. The housing material provides electrical insulation between live components and the mounting surface, supporting safe operation in standard indoor environments.
